Eduardo Paolozzi was my tutor at the Royal College of Art and he encouraged my study of Greek Art, and the idea of fragmentation. He would leave on my table in the studio photocopies and pages from old, usually German books, to hopefully inspire me to greater things. He introduced me to the image of the Horse of Selene sculpture, from the east pediment of the Parthenon, which is to be seen in the British Museum in all its glory. My small-scale horse’s head, became a way of experimenting with materials and effects, and also with the means of presentation.
